Visit Clearfield Co. becomes presenting sponsor of Small College World Series

Visit Clearfield County, the brand for the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority, has signed on as the Presenting Sponsor for the 2018 “City of DuBois USCAA Small College World Series” baseball and softball championships coming to DuBois in May.

“This is a great opportunity for the City of DuBois and Clearfield County,” said Josiah Jones, executive director of the CCRTA. “We will have visitors from out of state staying overnight and searching for other attractions, events and dining opportunities while they stay. Our hopes are that once they experience our area, they will come back again.”

In return for their presenting sponsorship, the county tourism group will receive a multitude of marketing opportunities to promote Clearfield County to the selected schools in the championship not only just the teams but including family, friends, students, staff and faculty attending the events. Visit Clearfield County will not only be the presenting sponsor of both championship events, but also the kickoff event for both scheduled Sunday night at Showers Field.

Some of the elements included in the Presenting Sponsorship comprise of promotional space at all games and the kickoff event scheduled for Sunday evening at Showers Field, in-game promotion, advertising and logo inclusion in game programs, websites, social media, and informational guides to teams, and media advertising in game broadcasts on radio and live-stream webcasts. If any of the games air on television, the agency would receive commercial time in that broadcast as well.

“We are so excited to be partnering with the Clearfield County Tourism group in hosting the USCAA Small College World Series for both women’s softball and men’s baseball here in DuBois”, said City Manager, John “Herm” Suplizio. “This is an exciting time for not only the people in DuBois, but to the entire area. We are looking forward to showing everyone what Clearfield County has to offer.”

“Hats off to Matt Checchio of Magnus Marketing, along with him and his company, who is doing a lot of marketing for the field,” Suplizio said. “We are looking forward to seeing this quality of baseball coming to DuBois.”

Championship Week is scheduled from Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 18t. Ticket information for both championships, including an affordable day-pass for residents of Clearfield County, will be announced later in the spring. The night before Championship Week, on Sunday there will be a kickoff event at Showers Field including a welcome parade for all 20 teams, 10 baseball and 10 softball, a home run derby for both softball and baseball players, a music concert, and a fireworks show capping off the night.

The tournaments will bring an estimated 500 student-athletes to DuBois and Clearfield County. The USCAA will be utilizing multiple hotels, restaurants, and shops throughout the nearly weeklong duration of the championships.
